The much anticipated contest between Number 2 Oklahoma and Number 3 Michigan was not nearly as close as many thought it would be. The Wolverines (416.50) easily handled the Sooners (408.90), winning by a nearly 8-point margin, and turning in the nation's 3rd highest team score in the process. They won four team and individual events behind the strong AA performances by freshman Paul Juda (84.05) and Cameron Bock (82.10). Juda became the fourth gymnast to top the 84 mark, winning the AA and [...more]

As someone who studies judging psychology, I found it interesting to think about some of the biases which have a greater potential to occur when judging under a 10.0 system, some of the unique nuances brought about by [...more]

Michigan Posts Weekend’s Top Score; Navy Wins 3rd Straight; 15.90 for Nedoroscik

For the second straight weekend, Ohio State was involved in an exciting wire-to-wire battle. They lost last Saturday on the road to Penn State by less than a point, and they suffered another heartbreak by losing a close one to their neighbor to the north. Michigan (409.60) needed a clutch PB routine by their anchor Cameron Bock to outlast the the host Buckeyes (408.50) in the final rotation. Competing on five events, Bock nabbed the top score on SR (14.55) and PB (13.80) to help the Wolverines capture four team events. They also had four individual event winners, as Nick Guy (VT-14.900), Jonathan Liu (HB-T1st-14.10) and freshman Paul Juda (HB-T1st-14.10) also brought home titles. Juda set a new season best in the AA (79.15). Michigan had four of the [...more]

Coach Mark Williams Addresses Scoring System in Open Letter to Gymnastics Community

A discussion is heating back up about whether or not NCAA Men's Gymnastics will switch from the current F.I.G./open-ended scoring system back to the "10" system. To be fair, the system many coaches are calling for is a "10-conversion" system, but nevertheless, to the naked eye, it still looks like the old system. Immediately after the 2019 season ended, the coaches discussed changing the scoring system starting [...more]
