NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Scoring (2015-2018)

NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Scoring (2015-2018)

Going back to 2015, the topic of scoring accuracy (especially during the regular season) is a common concern among NCAA Men's Gymnastics fans. Perhaps there are regional differences, obviously because the judging panels from all the various meets are not the same. Since it all comes out in the wash at the NCAA Championships, does it even matter? When the championship is on the line, the playing field is level. The only potential injustice is when regional scoring differences (Regional Qualifying Score) could adversely affect a bubble team from making the NCAA qualifying round of the top-12 teams. We have compiled the [...more]

Oklahoma Sets New High; Minnesota Wins Another Close Contest

Oklahoma Sets New High; Minnesota Wins Another Close Contest

It was a surreal evening of NCAA Men's Gymnastics in Norman, OK. 9th-ranked Navy came to town with a young team prepared to do battle against top-ranked Oklahoma. They simply ran into a buzzsaw. The Sooners (429.55) hit 29 of 30 routines to overpower the Mids (401.30). It was one hit routine after another -- The only blemish was a fall on SR, of all things. They hit for 70-plus on five out of six events and posted 23 scores of 14-plus en route to a new season team standard. Among the highlights were Levi Anderson (86.10) and Tanner Justus (83.45) recording incredible numbers in the [...more]

Mikulak Soars to Lead Day 1 Winter Cup Qualifiers

A familiar face in the Men's Gymnastics world is at the top of the leader board after Day 1 qualifying at Winter Cup. Sam Mikulak (86.30), despite a fall on his new triple back SR dismount and debuting a new but weaker Yurchenko 1 1/2 VT, simply ran away from his competition just like old times. Mikulak posted the top scores on FX (T1st-14.70), PB (15.20) and HB (14.70), and added a 3rd-place finish on PH (14.65) to distance himself by almost [...more]
