The Oklahoma Sooners picked up right where they left off last April. The top-ranked 2017 pre-season favorites looked like veritable code beaters in their debut at the Rocky Mountain Open. The new code changes account for an approximate loss of about 0.5 points per routine (~0.4 for vault). Lower scores relative to recent seasons will be the norm. No matter, the men from Norman made the most of [...more]
Perhaps the strongest recruiting class in recent memory is about to cash in on scholarship offers from schools across the land. The considerable wealth of talent being shared among many Division 1 programs is a welcome development and is great for parity. Michigan is back in the game, signing Junior National Team members [...more]
Stanford grad Sean Senters submitted this great story. He is a six-time All-American, the 2015 NCAA Vault Champion and a 2015 Nissen-Emery Award Finalist. We think you'll agree that Senters perfectly captures the spirit of NCAA Men's Gymnastics, and this is the first of what we hope will be many more great essays.

The Olympic period is nostalgic for any sort of “gymnastics graduate." It is a return to the glory days; the time gymnastics is “mainstream cool.” I fell prey to this trend watching the Rio Games, and naturally, I thought back to my college gymnastics days. My 5 years of [...more]
Stanford Men's Gymnastics' sophomore Josiah Eng recently posted of video of his outstanding new SR skill on YouTube. Eng describes it as a butterfly to handstand, through the inverted cross position. It has never been performed by [...more]
In one of the most exhausting, exciting and suspenseful Olympic Trials ever staged, five gymnasts emerged to comprise the 2016 U.S. Men's Gymnastics Olympic Team. Not one single member earned an automatic bid, by virtue of placing in the top 2 all-around and top 3 on events. However, Sam Mikulak came close enough to make his selection a fait accompli. Mikulak ran away with the [...more]
HARTFORD, CT -- Sam Mikulak put to rest any doubts he is still America's best all-around gymnast. Mikulak put together two solid days of routines to win his 4th straight U.S. title by almost two points. He tallied three top-4 scores that included runner-up finishes on PH and PB. If not for a miscue on HB, he would have taken the 2nd spot on that event. Placing 2nd on PH was huge for Mikulak, increasing his leverage even more. Barring a disaster at Trials, [...more]
One-fourth of the U.S. Men's Olympic Team selection process is done, so what have we learned? For starters, America's top two all-arounders are sitting at the top. Jake Dalton appears to be in pretty darn good shape. Chris Brooks still has plenty of fight left. Three current collegiate stars are in the hunt for the U.S. all-around title. The young guns are giving the veterans the fight for their [...more]
COLUMBUS, OH--Just like the qualifying round, Oklahoma got off to a rough start on FX, scoring two points below their season average. No matter, they really got it going on SR (74.50) and kept their foot on the gas the rest of the way. The Sooners' team effort on VT (75.25) produced four scores of 15-plus and they never looked back, besting their closest competition by almost [...more]

The top-ranked Sooners took care of business in the early session, after opening with their season-low on FX (72.85). They quickly got back on track, [...more]
Favored Ohio State (434.45) outlasted Illinois (429.70), Minnesota (429.10), Penn State (427.15), Iowa (426.70), Nebraska (421.45) and Michigan (417.25) in a tightly waged battle among the top three finishers to win their first Big 10 team title since 2007. Drawing a first rotation bye, the Buckeyes obviously trailed behind the leaders until the final rotation. They notched a meet-high 73.55 on FX to clinch [...more]
