Newly inked Stanford Men's Gymnastics signee Colt Walker (Class of 2020) is working on his AP Capstone project, which entails a study on collegiate gymnasts. In particular, he wants to find out how their academic and injury-induced stress affects their life satisfaction.

A discussion is heating back up about whether or not NCAA Men's Gymnastics will switch from the current F.I.G./open-ended scoring system back to the "10" system. The weekend's marquee meet was the Stanford Open, and the host team made the loudest of statements. The 2nd-ranked Cardinal (420.05) became the first team to hit the 420 mark in their resounding victory over top-ranked Oklahoma (408.20) and Cal (400.70). Stanford got off to a strong start on FX (72.15) and then promptly hit the skids on PH (64.40). After that hiccup, it was off to the races. Top-ranked Oklahoma (412.20) padded their lead atop the national standings with an impressive road win over host Ohio State (397.60) and Arizona State (380.70). The Sooners became the first team to hit the 410+ mark, and again demonstrated consistency from their surprisingly deep roster. They now have the top two scores thus far. NCAA Men's Gymnastics top two ranked teams are off to a great start. In an abbreviated opening weekend, Oklahoma and Stanford cruised to easy victories in their respective meets. Ranked number 2 going into the 2020 season, the Sooners (409.90) posted the weekend's highest team score over Nebraska (403.55), Minnesota (391.25), Air Force (381.90) and Washington (375.35) at the Rocky Mountain Open. The Sooners, operating at less than full strength due to illness, relied on a mixture of veterans and new talent to tally some impressive numbers.
